Window Cleaning – The Supreme Court – Parliament Square

A Fresh Approach

Julius Rutherfoord and The London Window Cleaner were awarded the contract for the cleaning of the Supreme Court on Parliament Square thanks to a new approach in tackling the challenges.  Initial surveys had indicated that safer and more efficient methods of cleaning could be employed.  Our very strong history in working at London’s largest museums meant that this heritage site was in safe hands.  On award of the contract we were able to approach the window cleaning from a new, safer and more cost efficient perspective.

Unparalleled safety and Quality of Service

The London Window Cleaner was established with the goal of providing a very different level of service to London’s most iconic buildings.  We are not a “tagged-on” service or a secondary consideration.  As an integrated part of Julius Rutherfoord’s service delivery, we provide the safest solution to complex access challenges in maintaining buildings.

At the Supreme Court this has meant a complete re-design of the access strategy.  Following visits by our HSE Manager (OSHCR, NEBOSH, CMIOSH) and our Rope Access Manager (IRATA3).  We documented our new system of works and submitted it to independent scrutiny.  The Court was delighted to receive a hearty endorsement from their Auditor of our new approach.

Implementing these changes has required us to spend time designing a bespoke service, training staff for site and in carefully evaluating how the new systems have worked out.  Being flexible and innovative means that as the building has evolved and changed, we have been there to support this process with ideas and suggestions to make the most of the visitor experience.

Commitment

We are firm believers that staff must feel invested in a property, with a firm sense of attachment to the buildings to deliver their best work.  As a company we are and always have been a London Living Wage employer.  Our turnover in staff is negligible, with many working on the same sites for the last ten years.  Through our company and in partnership with our local London Borough of Lewisham, we offer youth employment initiatives, work experience and apprenticeships.

Our staff grow in skills along with the business that they support; they have direct feeds into management, safety and employment forums.

Our commitment to you, as to the Supreme Court, is to deliver a safe, efficient and committed staff with a sense of dedication to the cleaning services that we deliver.
